Upcoming CD Release: Carbon Choir

I first fell in love with Carbon Choir months ago, their crystal-clear sound, soothing guitar chords and warm tones were something that really stuck to me. This band has the kind of effect where you can blast their music on your stereo while driving in your car to absolutely nowhere, just taking in the sun and thinking about life. Joel Van Horne’s (lead singer) voice still gives me goosebumps every time I hit “play” on my iPod and that being said, Carbon Choir’s interlocking sound of indie and alternative rock have boldly sufficed my music taste buds. Luckily, we here at Indie Bitches were given the pleasure of listening to the full length album and I must say from both experience of seeing them live and excitement to see them again, their release is something that you aren’t going to want to miss.

Sakhalin is set to debut at The Marquis on 4/28, mark your calendars now because this album has been weaved so perfectly to flow with such a rhythmical sound, you’re not going to want to miss hearing it live. Thanks to the help of their numerous Kickstarter fans, the album was succesfully recorded, this time quite different from their 2009 album “High Beams”. As said in a recent press release, main songwriter and singer/guitarist Joel Van Horne says the name is “simply a reference to a Sakhalin tree (pronounced ‘sak-uh-lyn’), under which an imagined story of a love rekindled takes place in the title track Sakhalin.” Exploring a completely diverse kind of sound, Sakhalin was made without any auxiliary instruments (unlike their first album) which has created a very bold sense of heartfelt music. As I said, mark your calendars now because this is a release that you aren’t going to want to ignore.

Check out their highly anticipated new album on April 28th at The Marquis Theater, doors at 8PM, featuring Petals of Spain and FaceMan. All ages, $8 pre-sales and $10 at the door.
