New Music Tuesday – Red Jumpsuit Apparatus – Et Tu, Brute?

I’ve been a fan of Red Jumpsuit for quite some time now, but the band actually has even more special ties to this blog. Without them, Kaila and I might not have started because this was the very first concert we ever attended!

So take a listen to their new album, Et Tu, Brute for us:

New Music Tuesday – Local Edition – KING – Need a Woman by Friday (Lyric Video) – feat. Trombone Shorty

Joe King from local band The Fray has started a solo project and released his first single. I heard this first on 93.3 for #303day this weekend and I enjoyed it!

Take a listen in the song below:

He has also released some tour dates that you can find on Reverb’s site.

What do you think of the new song?

Churchill Performing on Jimmy Kimmel Live 2/26

So excited for Churchill! We love them and are excited to see where they go!

Check out their song Change below:

New Music Tuesday – Take To The Oars – Morning Coffee – Local Edition!

I love new music. I love it even more when it comes from some of my favorite local acts, like Take to the Oars.

Take a listen to their new single which will be on their EP due out in early 2013!

New Music Tuesday – The Last Time by Gary Lightbody and Taylor Swift

Yes, I do like Taylor Swift. No, it isn’t very ‘indie’ of me. But I like Gary Lightbody even more than I like Taylor Swift. So when I heard they did a duet on her new album, I had to find it, immediately.

I think this song sounds more like Snowpatrol with backup vocals by Taylor, but I really like it! Take a listen for yourself.

What do you think? I haven’t bought Taylor’s new album, but I am definitely thinking about it. Especially because I love this song.

Dan Tedesco – Lions Lair – Tonight 10/19

Need an awesome show to go to? I highly recommend heading over to the Lion’s Lair tonight to see Dan Tedesco. Plus, opening is the one and only Shelby Britton.

Dan Tedesco

Dan has been described as “Folk Rock on Steriods” and while I haven’t had the pleasure of seeing him (yet), he comes HIGHLY recommended by many in the local scene, and he isn’t even from around here!

Go check out his site to hear some of his music for yourself.

See you at Lion’s Lair tonight!

Adele – Skyfall Video

I heard the snippet for this song earlier in the week and couldn’t wait to hear the whole thing. This song is the definition of a James Bond theme song, but I love it.

I didn’t really watch the video as the lyrics aren’t really that hard to figure out, but this song just might be on repeat for me today.

New Music Tuesday (OK, Fine, Wednesday) – Grouplove

Yeah, I *was* doing well last week, and then I missed Friday’s post, and then I forgot to post yesterday. But to make up for it, I have a FREE concert to go along with New Music Tuesday Wednesday.

Grouplove has been around since 2010 but have been gaining in popularity, especially after their song Tongue Tied was in an Apple iPod Touch commercial.

After listening to the album, I am sure you’ll agree that this will be a great show:

Here is their video for Tongue Tied:

They are playing the Chipotle Cultivate Festival on Saturday, October 6 at 3:45. So come to Denver, go check out Grouplove, then make your way to the Gothic and get #Coloradical with these bitches.

What’s #Coloradical? I am glad you asked! Coloradical is the new CD being released by Bop Skizzum this Saturday at the Gothic Theatre. And? Rachel and the Kings are releasing their new music video! I have seen a sneak peek of this video, and trust me, you do NOT want to miss this debut!

New Music Thursday – Andrew McMahon

Another day, another band breaks up. Jack’s Mannequin is no longer a band, but I have faith that Andrew will continue to make more music. Just listen to this song that he just recorded on a whim:

His story of the song:

one last song

I have been well aware, throughout my career, how rare it is for a musician to have such a genuine connection with the people who support them. The reaction to the final JM shows have certainly crystalized those realizations. There is little I could do to express my gratitude for this, but if anything, this is a small token. Late one night in Santa Monica I played my friend and long time producer, Jim Wirt, a demo of a song I wrote a few years back. No session was scheduled, but after a couple beers and some laughs we pulled out some microphones and cut it. The next day Jay and Bobby came through and did what they do best; selflessly and skillfully served the song. We weren’t making an album, and like the early days there was no label in place to release it. Just friends in a space playing music. I hope you enjoy it.

Wrecking Ball Heart

New Music Wednesday – Imagine Dragons

If you are friends with me on Facebook, or follow me on Rdio, you know that this band has been on repeat for me for the past few weeks.

I first heard Imagine Dragons on 93.3 a few months ago, but it wasn’t until I heard that they were opening for Awolnation that I actually listened to their EP. I fell in LOVE with it! I was bummed when I found out that their two nights at Summit Music Hall were sold out before I got tickets. C’est la vie.

Here is the EP I fell in love with:

And here is their brand new album that came out just a few weeks ago (yes most of the songs from the EP are on it as well):

If you are lucky enough to see them tomorrow or Friday at Summit, please have a blast for me and tell me what a great show I missed!
